Hello! Our love of wine started many years ago as a consumer, then a blogger, and now as a vintner, and wine maker. We have just planted our grapes this year (2022) so have 3 years before we will have our first harvest where we can make wine from our own grapes. We are proud members of the Nevada Grape Growers and Wine Makers. Our vineyard is a personal hobby vineyard.
Steamboat Valley, just south of Reno Nevada is located at 4700 feet in the rain shadow of the Sierra Mountains, next to Hot Springs and an active volcano. The geysers are gone now that geothermal power is being produced on the area. Our soils are Alkali Vamp Silt, and we are sitting right on the valley floor.
Nevada Grapes and wines are a thing, but they are a new thing. So because of that we have planted several varieties to see what likes the high desert best.
